Private Scenic Float Trip with a Dedicated Guide
Private Scenic FloatThe River Journey - Settle into a comfortable six-person raft with your private group and your expert guide. The Snake's gentle current carries you downstream at nature's pace-slow enough to spot wildlife and appreciate every mountain view, swift enough to feel you're genuinely traveling through wild country.
Wildlife Viewing - The riverbanks and adjacent wetlands teem with life. Bald eagles nest in towering cottonwoods, often visible fishing or tending their young. Moose wade through shallows feeding on aquatic vegetation. Beaver lodges dot the banks. River otters occasionally make playful appearances. Your guide knows the wildlife hotspots and helps you identify species.

Natural History Interpretation - Learn the story behind the Wild & Scenic designation, understand the river's role in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, discover how geology shaped these mountains, and appreciate the conservation work protecting this watershed. Your guide brings the landscape to life with stories and insights.
Relaxed Atmosphere - No paddling required, no technical skills needed, no physical exertion. Just settle in, observe, ask questions, and let the river carry you through one of America's most scenic landscapes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Before You GoThe Snake River corridor is one of North America's premier wildlife viewing areas. Moose are commonly spotted in willow thickets along the banks. Bald eagles and osprey nest along the river, and you'll often see them fishing. River otters, beavers, elk, and mule deer are frequent sightings. Occasionally we spot black bears or even grizzlies on distant hillsides. We carry binoculars and spotting scopes to help you get better views, and our guides know where wildlife tends to congregate.
Most scenic floats run 3–4 hours on the water, covering 10–13 miles depending on the specific route and current conditions. We float the Wilson to South Park section under Teton County permit. Total trip time including transportation is typically 4–5 hours.
Dress in layers since temperatures on the water can be cooler than in town, especially on morning trips. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses (with a strap or floatable case), a hat, and a light jacket even on warm days. Water shoes or sandals with straps work best for getting in and out of the raft. We provide dry bags for cameras and valuables. A water bottle is essential. If you're serious about photography, bring your telephoto lens. Wildlife photo opportunities abound!
The season runs May through October, with each period offering something unique. Early summer (May–June) brings high water, vibrant green landscapes, and active wildlife as animals emerge with their young. Mid-summer (July–August) offers the most stable conditions and warmest temperatures. Fall (September–October) delivers stunning foliage, clearer water, elk in rut, and fewer crowds. Morning trips typically offer the best wildlife viewing and photography light.
