Canoe Rentals in Jackson Hole
Timeless Canoe AdventuresDiscover Why Canoes Remain the Perfect Paddle Craft
Premium FleetThe canoe represents centuries of refined design, a beautifully simple craft that remains one of the most versatile and rewarding ways to explore water. Our canoe rental fleet includes premium models from trusted manufacturers like Wenonah and Old Town, all maintained in excellent condition and updated regularly. Our ultralight canoe options are built with advanced materials like Kevlar and carbon fiber composites and weigh 30-50% less than standard models while maintaining strength and rigidity.
Canoes excel at what they’ve always done best: carrying families together, hauling gear for camping trips, providing stable platforms for fishing, accessing remote waters, and offering that uniquely intimate connection with lakes and rivers that’s defined North American paddling for generations.
Whether you’re planning a peaceful morning on a Grand Teton lake, a multi-day river camping expedition, a fishing trip to backcountry waters, or simply want to paddle with your family in a stable, social craft, our canoe fleet has the perfect boat. Every rental includes quality paddles, PFDs for all paddlers, roof rack systems, and the expert advice that makes the difference between struggling and gliding.
What’s Included with Every Canoe Rental:
- Quality paddles matched to paddler heights
- Properly-fitted PFDs (life jackets) for all paddlers
- Roof rack system and tie-down straps

Frequently Asked Questions
Before You GoCanoes excel at carrying multiple people who can see and talk to each other, hauling significant gear for camping or day trips, providing stable platforms for fishing or photography, accommodating children in the middle with adults controlling, and offering the classic, social paddling experience. Two adults in a canoe can easily carry a cooler, camping gear, and kids – try that in kayaks! Choose canoes for family togetherness, gear capacity, and traditional paddling.
With proper technique, not hard at all – but it does require learning the J-stroke or other correction strokes. We provide instruction on fundamental strokes with every rental, including the techniques that keep canoes tracking straight. Tandem paddling requires some communication between bow and stern paddlers. Most renters paddle competently within 30-60 minutes of practice. Longer, narrower canoes track straighter than short, wide ones.
Absolutely! We have canoes appropriate for solo use and can recommend techniques for paddling tandem canoes solo (sitting backward from the center seat or kneeling). Solo paddling offers wonderful freedom and challenge but requires more skill than tandem. Ultralight canoes work especially well for solo paddlers since weight becomes more significant when managing the boat alone.
Every rental includes the canoe, quality paddles for all paddlers (matched to your heights), properly-fitted PFDs, roof rack systems, tie-down straps, portage yoke or carrying pads, basic paddling instruction, and expert advice on routes. We can add seats, kneeling pads, dry bags, and other accessories as needed. Everything required for safe, enjoyable paddling.
Slide Lake offers excellent canoeing with good wildlife viewing and manageable conditions. Snake River’s gentler sections (Wilson to South Park, South Park to Astoria) are perfect for canoes. For overnight adventures, our Jackson Lake expeditions provide spectacular Teton scenery with exclusive backcountry campsites. We’ll recommend specific destinations based on your experience, group composition, and what you hope to see.
