Get the custom course fit just to your needs any day of the week! Want to learn the basics, perfect your eddy turn, master surfing and freestyle? We have the ability to do it all from never having been in a boat to working on skills on the world class Snake River Canyon. The cost is on a sliding scale depending on how many folks are in your group and how long you want to go for. We will keep a 4:1 student to instructor ratio, so the more folks you bring the more world-class kayak instructors you get all to yourselves on the river!
If this is your first time taking a whitewater kayak lesson we highly recommend that you book a full-day lesson. This will allow you to get some actual time traveling down a fun section of the river to work on the skills that you will be working on in the first half of the day.

For our custom trips, we will meet at our location in town. Most beginner lessons will start at our pool on our deck to practice wet exits (getting out of your skirted boat). After that we can discuss with you the many options that we have to offer. Once you decide on an option we can get you appropriately geared up to take you to the river. The section of the river and gear you need will be determined by multiple factors. We include all the gear you would need to be happy on the water in all weather.
Private lessons available every day of the week from May 1-October 15. We offer morning and afternoon half day trips. June - Labor Day morning half days start at 8:30am, afternoons start at 2pm and full days are 9-5. Times vary in May, September and October to fit shorter days and variable weather.
We can provide custom private group lessons for businesses and birthdays and, more! For multi-day lesson discounts or trips 3 days or longer please email us at [email protected].
If you have never kayaked or have minimal experience in a closed-cockpit boat this is the course for you. Being a competent swimmer with a taste for water and fun is all that is required. This course will give you a solid background in kayaking basics and allow you to have fun on the river. Because everyone has busy schedules we offer a few different options for you to choose from. All gear is included in our lessons, and lunch is provided for full-day lessons!

This course requires a general knowledge of paddle strokes, (forward & back paddling, sweeps, braces, and draws) the ability to paddle straight on flat water, and familiarity with river features. You must also be able to perform eddy turns, ferries, and peel-outs. A solid roll is great, but if you're working towards one and willing to try T-rescues that's okay.
Beginning with a thorough review of river maneuvers your instructor will evaluate your skills and help improve your technique. On the river, you'll focus on making crisp eddy turns, peel outs and ferries. While paddling one of the valley's rivers, your instructor will help you understand the subtleties of river currents, reading water, and basic river safety. You will also be introduced to the excitement of play-boating rapids and receive coaching as you learn to surf-friendly waves and holes. If there is time and the group is interested there might be time to practice rolling, but we strongly recommend you take a rolling class to master your rolling skills.
