Stand Up Paddleboading Lessons

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP) is the fastest-growing paddlesport in the world. Come out with our experienced instructors and learn how much fun it is!  The teaching progression is similar to that of kayak or canoeing with a twist of surfing. We offer lessons on both the lakes and the rivers in the area.

All of our trips are Custom. We can cater any trip to your group's ability and goals for the day.

Lake lessons

We teach our flatwater SUP courses on beautiful Slide Lake. Slide Lake is a local secret up in the Gros Ventre Mountains with great paddling and super interesting natural history. Our instructors will start on land with the basics of the board and paddle design, how to properly hold your paddle, and board paddling positions.

Once on the lake, our instructors will go through the balance progressions of laying on your board, kneeling, and finally standing up. Within each position, you will learn different paddling techniques and paddle strokes to help you maneuver your board efficiently and effectively. At this point, we will put your newly learned skills to the test with a paddle through the sunken forests to see the beaver lodges, osprey nest, bald eagle nest, and any other wildlife that might be hanging out along the edge of the lake.

Gear

All gear is included in lesson prices. Our SUP School has a full fleet of the latest SUP's and paddles from Star Boards, Boardworks, NRS, HALA, SOL,  Werner, and more. We also have drysuits and full wetsuits to keep you warm at all times of year.
