No previous experience needed! Your adventure begins at our shop in Jackson where you'll meet your expert guide. After a brief orientation, we'll:
Throughout your trip, our certified guides provide personalized coaching, helping you navigate the river with growing confidence.
We provide: Inflatable kayak, paddle, helmet, personal flotation device, wetsuit or drysuit (depending on conditions), splash jacket, transportation, and expert instruction.
Our guides are ACA (American Canoe Association) certified and expert at teaching newcomers. We provide thorough instruction and choose appropriate sections based on river levels.
Our inflatable kayaks are very stable, but flipping can happen and is often part of the fun! We'll teach you how to safely exit and re-enter your boat. The Snake River is deep and forgiving in most places.
While you don't need to be an athlete, a basic level of fitness helps. You will be paddling 1.5-4.5 hours with breaks depending on the trip you choose. The most important requirements are a positive attitude and willingness to follow instructions.
In a raft, you're a passenger. In a ducky, you're the pilot! You'll feel every wave and rapid more intimately, have freedom to maneuver (within safe boundaries), and develop actual paddling skills versus just holding on.
We paddle rain or shine! In fact, rainy days often mean fewer crowds on the river. We provide appropriate gear to keep you comfortable in varying conditions.
Sure! Bring a phone or camera, we have waterproof bags available. Guides may take photos AND there are professional photographers at certain points on the river.
For group trips the youngest age is 8 years old with an adult in a tandem. The youngest age may be raised during times of high water and we can make exceptions for younger kids on private trips when the water is lower.
